Tamil MUTTON CHOPS

Indian mutton chops recipe is an excellent side dish with rice and sambar, rice and rasam and curd rice, briyani, fried rice. Tamil mutton chops is made of rib bones. Our family concept of eating chops is to extract the meat around the rib bones and if tender bite and chew on the ribs too!

The lamb or goat mutton meat will make all the difference in taste and flavor for an Indian MUTTON CHOPS recipe. Try to get the goat meat from the halal or mexican shops (they call it chevo). It is commonly known as "Kosher" meat.Believe me,goat is the closest to Indian mutton you will ever come to in USA!

Indian MUTTON CHOPS recipe

Mutton rib bones 1 lb
Turmeric Powder 1/4 tsp
Cumin Powder 1 tsp
Ground Black Pepper 2 tsp
Salt 1 tbsp

STEP BY STEP METHOD

Method
1 Wash the mutton pieces well and let it dry
2 Grind the cumin and black pepper together.Marinate the muttonpieces with the ground ingredients, turmeric powder and salt
3 After an hour boil them in a large cooking dish adding 1 cup of water, closing with the lid, on high till the meat is tender
4 There should be little water left once the meat is cooked. If you find there is no water then add at least ¼ cup water and boil for a minute
5 In another frying pan pour 3 tbsp of oil and add 1/4 tsp fennil powder and fry lightly
6 Add the cooked mutton pieces and mix well
7 Reduce the heat to low and let it fry mixing it often till the gravy thickens. Remove from heat and serve hot.
