Indian fish head curry recipe is made only by a few people who know the taste of the fish head. Our family loves to bite and chew fish head. It is an acquired taste! The red fish head curry recipe is spicy and hot. You need fish heads. Just save up a few fish heads from other recipes.Fish head curry goes well with white rice, idli, dosa, iddyappam, aappam and bread. Fish head curry is one of our favorites, we make it at least twice a week.

Indian FISH HEAD CURRY recipe

INGREDIENTS (Serves 4)

Fish head 1 lb
Onions 2 (1 chopped)
Garlic 5 cloves
Tomatoes 2
Cumin powder 1/2 tsp
Chili powder 1 tsp
Coriander powder 2 tsp
Turmeric powder 1 1/2 tsp
Salt 1 tbsp

STEP BY STEP METHOD

Steps

Method
1 Marinate fish head with chilli powder, turmeric powder and ½ tsp salt for an hour
2 Grind one onion, tomatoes,cumin powder, chilli powder and coriander powder
3 Heat oil in sauce pan and add mustard seeds
4 Once it starts popping, add chopped onion and garlic and almost blacken it(do not burn). Reduce heat to low
5 Add ground mixture from step2 turmeric powder, salt and2 cups of water. Let it boil well for 5-7 minutes
6 Add fish head and let it boil on low heat until cooked for atleast 5 minutes. Do not over cook
7 Sprinkle cilantro for look and flavor and serve hot
